What is Matrix AntiCheat?
Matrix AntiCheat is a server-side cheat detection system that watches player behaviour for the signatures of common hacks — fly, speed, kill-aura, X-ray, auto-clicker and many more — and acts on them through configurable violation thresholds and automatic punishments. Detection runs server-side so players cannot disable it, and staff receive alerts they can act on. It depends on ProtocolLib for the packet-level information many checks require. As a premium plugin it competes on check coverage and tunability, and like all anti-cheats it needs configuration to balance catching cheaters against false positives.
Who it's for: PvP and survival servers that need broad cheat coverage with adjustable strictness, and owners willing to run a premium anti-cheat and tune it. Premium. It is built and maintained by RE and sits in the anti-cheat category, and is a premium (paid) plugin.

How to install Matrix AntiCheat
Matrix AntiCheat runs on Spigot or Paper servers. Maintained for current Spigot/Paper versions; as a premium plugin you obtain licensed builds matched to your server version.
- 1Stop your server, or have it ready to restart. Always back up your world and plugins folder before adding a new plugin.
- 2Download MatrixAntiCheat.jar (a build matching your server version) and place it in your server's /plugins folder.
- 3Matrix AntiCheat requires ProtocolLib — install that plugin first or Matrix AntiCheat will not start.
- 4Start the server fully. Matrix AntiCheat generates its configuration files on first launch — stop the server, edit them to taste, then start again.
- 5Confirm it loaded by checking the console for Matrix AntiCheat on startup, or by running one of its commands in-game.
Note: Matrix requires ProtocolLib — install it first. Drop Matrix (your licensed premium build) into /plugins and restart to generate its checks config. Expect to tune thresholds and bypass settings after launch: anti-cheats always need calibration to your server's ping, plugins and movement modifiers to minimise false positives.

Matrix AntiCheat FAQ
Does Matrix require ProtocolLib?
Yes. Many of Matrix's checks read packet-level data, which requires ProtocolLib. Install ProtocolLib in /plugins before Matrix, and keep it updated to your server version, or Matrix's packet-based detections will not function correctly.
How do I reduce false positives?
Tune the per-check thresholds and enable only the checks appropriate to your server, using /matrix verbose to watch which checks flag legitimate players. High-latency servers, certain plugins (knockback, velocity modifiers) and custom movement can trigger false flags, so calibrate strictness against your real player conditions before enabling auto-punishment.
Can players disable Matrix on their end?
No. Detection is server-side, so a cheating client cannot turn it off. The matrix.bypass permission can exempt a player from checks, but that is granted by you (typically only to staff for testing), not something a player can give themselves.
What cheats can Matrix detect?
It targets the common categories — movement hacks (fly, speed), combat hacks (kill-aura, reach, auto-clicker), and world hacks such as X-ray — among others, each as a tunable check. No anti-cheat catches everything, but covering these categories stops the overwhelming majority of casual cheating.
Is Matrix free?
No, Matrix is a premium anti-cheat — you purchase and download a licensed build. Free anti-cheats exist (such as Grim), but premium options like Matrix compete on check breadth, tuning tools and support. Budget configuration time regardless of which you choose.
