What is PlotSquared?

PlotSquared is the standard plot-world manager for creative and build servers. It generates worlds divided into uniform plots separated by roads; players claim a plot, build freely inside it, trust collaborators, deny others, set plot flags and teleport home to it. A setup wizard creates the plot world, plots can be merged into larger areas, components (walls, floor, border) are swappable, and it integrates with WorldEdit/FAWE for in-plot editing. Administrative overrides let staff manage any plot. It is the backbone of plot-based creative servers, plot-shops and build-submission communities.

Who it's for: Creative and build servers offering players their own plots, plot-based minigame or shop worlds, and any community where land is parcelled into equal claimable lots. Premium. It is built and maintained by IntellectualSites and sits in the world management category, and is a premium (paid) plugin.

How to install PlotSquared

PlotSquared runs on Bukkit, Spigot or Paper servers. IntellectualSites maintains PlotSquared for current Spigot/Paper versions, tested alongside WorldEdit/FAWE from the same group.

  1. 1Stop your server, or have it ready to restart. Always back up your world and plugins folder before adding a new plugin.
  2. 2Download PlotSquared.jar (a build matching your server version) and place it in your server's /plugins folder.
  3. 3PlotSquared has no required dependencies, so it runs on its own once the jar is in place.
  4. 4Start the server fully. PlotSquared generates its configuration files on first launch — stop the server, edit them to taste, then start again.
  5. 5Confirm it loaded by checking the console for PlotSquared on startup, or by running one of its commands in-game.

Note: Drop PlotSquared into /plugins and restart, then create a plot world with its setup wizard (/plot setup). Install WorldEdit or FAWE for in-plot editing, and PlaceholderAPI if you want plot placeholders. Plots live in their own generated world; players claim with /plot auto or /plot claim once that world exists.

PlotSquared FAQ

How do players get a plot?

Run /plot auto to be given the next available plot and teleported to it, or stand on an empty plot and run /plot claim. Once claimed, the player builds freely inside it and can return any time with /plot home. The number of plots a player may own is controlled by plots.plot.<number> permissions.

How do I create a plot world?

Use the setup wizard with /plot setup, which walks you through generating a new world divided into plots with roads, choosing plot size, road width and components. PlotSquared creates the world; players then claim plots within it. You can run several plot worlds with different settings.

Can players build together on one plot?

Yes. The owner uses /plot trust <player> to grant full build rights that persist even when the owner is offline, or /plot add for rights only while the owner is online. /plot deny blocks a player from entering. This is how collaborative builds and plot teams work.

Does PlotSquared need WorldEdit?

Not to run, but it integrates tightly with WorldEdit or FAWE for editing within plots, restricting those edits to the player's own plot. Install WorldEdit/FAWE if you want players or staff to use selection-based editing while keeping it contained to their plot boundaries.

Can plots be merged into bigger areas?

Yes. /plot merge joins adjacent plots you own into a single larger plot, removing the road between them, subject to your plot limit and permissions. This lets players who own neighbouring plots create one large build area instead of being confined to a single lot.
